Final Project

For your final project, you should select, in the New Orleans books in Fletcher 204, an image or series of images  —  photographs or paintings or cultural artifacts — and use them as the starting point for a creative endeavor. You can write a story, a sequence of poems, or a personal essay; you can write directly about New Orleans or about another city or town; but your project should arise from your consideration of how place helps to shape identity, and you should be prepared to discuss, in your oral presentation of your project, the ideas that underpin your work.

You’ll present your project to the class on Monday, September 9, or Tuesday, September 10. You should plan to read an excerpt from your project, discuss its origin and the ideas you explored, and answer questions from your classmates and from me. The completed project is due on Thursday, September 12, and should be submitted as a blog post.
